If you are looking for a new, affordable, pristine hotel, the Ayres Hotel in Carlsbad California is a brand new location for the Southern California chain and it is sure to be a win during your next San Diego vacation.
The Ayres in Vista, Carlsbad opened just a few months ago and from the moment you enter the beautiful lobby to the minute you set your bags down in your bright, stylish and modern room, it feels like home. The hotel features 103 deluxe guestrooms, complimentary breakfast (during Covid it is all pre-packaged, to-go items), complimentary parking, an onsite restaurant and bar, heated pool and Jacuzzi (spa is closed during Covid per county restrictions), a modern fitness center, and is pet friendly!!! Enjoy the outdoor patio with sparkling lights, and a fire pit in the perfect San Diego weather.
Each room is clean, well planned out, quiet, and fully stocked. My kid’s favorite part was definitely the breakfast! Heck, let’s be honest, my favorite part was the breakfast. We loved the many available options and can’t wait until restrictions are lifted and they can fully open. As of now all the food comes pre-packaged and prepared by an employee.
And like most kids (I would assume) mine live for hotel pools. So while this one wasn’t the biggest we’ve been in, they couldn’t have been more thrilled. The best part was, although it was a bit chilly that night, swimming in the heated pool was warm and inviting.
But, what makes the Carlsbad Ayres Hotel so great is its central location to all the fun San Diego is known for!
Things to enjoy near the Carlsbad Ayres Hotel:
Beaches
Many, many beaches all within miles of the hotel
Carlsbad Village
We enjoyed dinner and ice cream at Handel’s (which I totally recommend) while listening to live music played from the bed of a truck the night we were there. And while the outdoor ice cream parlor was heavily visited, everyone maintained distance best they could and wore a mask.
San Diego Zoo and Safari Park
Which is currently open with a mask mandate.
Legoland
Currently Miniland is free to visit, and there will be a fun Halloween activity happening the next few weeks at minimal cost.
SeaWorld
Leo Carillo State Park
Oceanside Beach and Pier
Whale Watching
You can take a larger tour or private one with Off Shore Blue Adventure
Boat rentals and hydro-bikes
