Today is the day that California officially opens up! Celebrate, hallelujah… you get it! And with the opening, Disneyland has also announced that it will end it’s mask requirement for anyone who has been vaccinated. This is big news, especially as temperatures rise here in sunny SoCal. Which means, it just might be time to plan for your next Disney vacation.
Our family in fact went to Disneyland last week and the magic is back and in full force… heh… “the force”. However, if you haven’t experience the new Star Wars land and especially Rise of the Resistance, plan your trip now. That ride alone is worth all the effort of going. Although, there is quite an art to being put in the queue. I am getting off topic though.
What I really wanted to share with you here is the perfect place to stay for your Disneyland trip! We were invited to check out this hotel along with the “Mommy Blogger Tribe‘ and we can’t wait to return.

The hotel is located just 5 min (drive) to Disneyland, but even better is that it is a mere 8 min walk into the park! Literally, hotel to gates, 8 minutes!
Better yet, Downtown Disney is less than 1 mile away (an easy walk of about 10-15 minutes), Angel’s Stadium is an 8-minute drive, Knotts Berry Farm is 13 minutes away, the beach only 30 minutes away. In addition to those places, there are tons of amazing shopping and dining areas all right around the hotel, many within walking distance. Hotel Features
The hotel features 303 guestrooms (building 1 remodeled in March 2018 & building 2 recently completed in April 2020). Each room has refrigerators and microwaves. Complimentary wireless Internet access keeps you connected, and cable programming is available for your entertainment. Additionally, the rooms have private bathrooms with shower/tub combinations feature complimentary toiletries and hair dryers. Conveniences include laptop-compatible safes and desks, as well as phones with free local calls. The vintage Disney decor found all around the hotel is fantastic. The balcony overlooking the pool where we were was awesome… you could even get glimpses of Disneyland from certain rooms. And, the beds are super soft, the staff friendly, and the fun found in abundance. Each room comes with a rubber ducky souvenir to remind you of your stay at the HOJO in Anaheim.
Amenities
Enjoy a range of recreational amenities, including a complimentary water park, an outdoor pool, and a spa tub. Additional amenities at this hotel include complimentary wireless Internet access, an arcade/game room, and gift shops/newsstands. If you’re planning a day at a nearby theme park, you can hop on the shuttle (surcharge), but the walk across the street is easy and time saving.
Parking is free for 1 car per room! additional cars are $20 + 17% tax per night. Since we stayed for one night before our Disneyland visit, we checked-out of our room, put our luggage in our car, and walked over to the park. (Make sure to let the front desk know that’s what you’re doing as it may change depending on parking availability).
Good Neighbor Hotel– The Howard Johnson Anaheim Hotel is a Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotel, which means that you can purchase park tickets at the front desk, including Magic Morning admission. If you are visiting from out of state, the Disneyland Resort Express Bus also picks you up at The Howard Johnson Anaheim Hotel (for a small fee) to take you back to LAX or SNA airports.
Castaway Cove/Garden Pool
One of the big selling points for us was the water features of the hotel. We wanted to turn our 1 night into a staycation/vacation and this made it feel like a full on getaway both days for our whole family.
Castaway Cove is a pirate-themed playground/splashpad with a 30-foot pirate ship, slides and water cannons. The heated spa and children’s wading pool are also found in this area. And of course the all popular 200 gallon drench bucket. When you hear the bell ringing, get away from that bucket- or if you are like my crazy kids, run towards it!
Garden Pool HoJo Anaheim also has a large outdoor heated pool. Surrounded by trees, this beautiful large pool is the perfect place to spend time enjoying the sunny California weather day or night!
Both the pool and spa require reservation to be made after you book your stay (they can be booked 30 days in advance)
- Reservations time slots are: 10am-12pm, 12:30pm-2:30pm, 3pm-5pm, 5:30pm-7:30pm, 8pm-10pm.
- Pool areas are closed between reservations for cleaning.
- Kids not potty trained are required to wear swim pants, which HoJo provides complimentary if needed.
