Santa Barbara located off Hwy 101 on California’s golden coast is such a neat, unique town. It somehow captures the SoCal and Central California vibe perfectly; mixing all the best components of each creating a must visit destination. The city is rich in history, culture, arts and natural beauty. Santa Barbara is a desirable place for local Californians to stay, but it’s accessibility to so much nearby also makes it a top tourist destination.
When you decide to stay in Santa Barbara be sure to check out the Haley Hotel. This adorable boutique hotel, centrally located in the heart of Santa Barbara has everything you will need and want!
Haley Hotel
Located in downtown off the very popular State Street this boutique hotel is nestled in the heart of the city and has a lot to offer.
The soul of Haley Hotel has always been rooted in exploration. Named after the famous Sea-Captain Haley, the hotel is a place for visitors looking to discover the coastal charm of California. Swim in the sea, wander the historic streets, stroll on the beach, or catch a sunset. And we loved having this family friendly hotel in Santa Barbara as our home base during our explorations.
Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, this boutique hotel is small and charming. It’s central location provides just a short walk to the ocean and some of the city’s best restaurants, coffee shops, cocktail bars and local amusements. This hotel is all about location, location, location! In addition, the hotel is clean and well maintained, having all shared spaces regularly sanitized, the walkways all located outside, and precautions are being taken seriously for the benefit and health of all parties.
More about the location:
5 min walk to Funk Zone (the hotel can get a bit loud on the weekend); ear plugs provided by the hotel, and we had a sound machine with us, so it was not a problem.
1 min walk to downtown- shopping, historical landmarks, and dining at top restaurants
10 min walk to the waterfront- explore Stearns Wharf, east/west beaches where water toys can be rented and enjoyed
The Rooms
The hotel boasts 17 rooms that have each been refreshed in a nautical design featuring a thoughtful selection of art, furniture and amenities from local artisans.
We stayed in the corner suite (Rm 13) and our family loved the bunk bed option that worked perfectly for us. While the room was a bit small, it had what we needed, the bed was comfy and the whole place worked well for us. We enjoyed walking to Stearns Wharf, getting McConnell’s Ice Cream (which started in SB btw), eating off State Street, taking in history at the Santa Barbara Mission and more. Additionally, the fridge in the room was quite large allowing us to keep beverages and snacks in the room, some of which we picked up in the lobby.
The courtyard is truly the gem of the hotel and full of fun! Once you walk through the entryway you will be overcome with opportunities to keep yourself entertained. The hotel provides bike rentals, 2 beautiful fire pits lit nightly, large games like connect 4, corn hole, jenga, chess, bocce ball, etc. It’s the perfect place to hang out, with the cutest chairs, loungers around the firepit, a hammock, and sand area with toys (that my kids LOVED). In fact we all loved being right there at the hotel playing throughout our stay.
The hotel provides a breakfast to go at this time. Parking at $20 per night- lot shared with the store on the other side. The hotel is pet friendly with a small fee attached and caters to those traveling with their furry family members. The key to your room can be accessed directly on your phone for contactless access, and eliminates the need to carry anything extra with you.
We loved this incredible location and had so much fun exploring the city. This place has a great vibe and makes for a fantastic stay!
