Looking for a way to make this Memorial Day Weekend more meaningful?
The historical San Juan Capistrano Mission has teamed up for the first time with Homefront America in hosting their debut 2021 Field of Honor over the Memorial Day Weekend starting Wednesday, May 26- Monday, May 30. The unforgettable display consists of over 400, 7-foot community-sponsored American flags placed strategically over the stunning central courtyard grounds of the mission to represent military members, veterans and first responders.
Field of Honor is all about bringing people together. It’s an absolutely beautiful display of patriotism and pride in
America. As my family walked around the grounds reading the tributes to many self sacrificing American heroes my heart was filled with gratitude to these brave men and women. It was a fantastic way to spend the day as we approach a very meaningful holiday.
The SJC Mission and Homefront America has invited the community to sponsor individual flags to honor specific military, veteran, and/or first responder. Past honorees have included famous K-9 and equestrian heroes for their selfless sacrifices. Sponsorships begin at $50/flag with all proceeds benefiting Homefront America’s charitable programs for military families. A $50 sponsor level also includes an individual membership to Mission San Juan Capistrano’s Preservation Society and sponsorship benefits increase with various levels up to $1000.
Field of Honor will be on display from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. from Wednesday, May 26
to Monday, May 31. Regular admission pricing will be in effect with the exception of
complimentary admission for military, veterans, first-responders, flag sponsors and
members of the Mission San Juan Capistrano Preservation Society.
Mission San Juan Capistrano is located at 26801 Ortega Highway in San Juan Capistrano

More About The Mission San Juan Capistrano
Known as the “Jewel of the Missions,” The Mission San Juan Capistrano is a historic landmark and museum that features permanent exhibits with original artifacts as well as traveling and temporary exhibits. It was founded on November 1, 1776, by Saint Junipero Serra as the seventh of 21 California missions established by Spain. Once you visit you will see why it is known as the jewel of the missions. The grounds are stunning (and currently in full bloom), the exhibits are well thought out and put together nicely. It is Orange County’s only Mission, and the site is home to Serra Chapel, The Great Stone Church and the original padres’ quarters of the South Wing and promotes faith, education, preservation and cultural event programming. If you haven’t gone, I highly recommend a visit soon!
