The Legend of Sleepy Hollow at Riley’s Farm

If I had to choose one family favorite Fall activity to do, this would be it. It encompasses everything wonderful about the season. It has the spooky element without overdoing it, hayrides, good food, a classic tale and drama, dancing, pie eating, pumpkin carving, seed spitting; are you convinced yet?
We have attended The Legend of Sleepy Hollow at Riley’s Farm in Oak Glen numerous times over the past years and each time we love it more and more.
The night focuses around Washington Irvine’s timeless tale of Ichabod Crane and the headless horseman. You will find yourself meeting the colorful characters of Tarrytown, including Katrina Van Tassel, the burly and handsome Brom Bones, and even a welcome from the schoolmaster himself.
Don’t go and expect just another formal dinner and show, because this evening will wrap you right up in the action and fun. You will find yourself right alongside the characters where guests old and young participate in the festivities: apple bobbing (won by yours truly), pie eating contests (also won by yours truly— I am kind of competitive), dancing, GREAT live music and equally GREAT food. This is a night to please everyone in your party. I can almost guarantee it!
When you arrive, enjoy their homemade appetizer soup of corn chowder or pumpkin outside under the lights in the cool night air. Then, hop on the hayride and take a trip in the countryside with several of the Sleepy Hollow townsfolk. Watch the characters come alive on and off stage in a play of three acts. Throughout the evening, participate in a variety of classic country contests. But be forewarned, there is rumor of a Headless Horseman on the prowl, and it is said he will ride past the house by night!
Disclaimer: this is not a scary night and all of my kids have gone and enjoyed and have not been afraid. However, if you are nervous, stay inside with little ones at the end. I will say though that this event is perfect for all ages!!!!
Show dates: SEPT 21,26,27,28 ∙ OCT 3,4,5,10,11,12,17,18,19,24,25,26
