Oceanside Ca is a great place to take a San Diego family vacation.
You’ve heard it before and the saying remains true: it’s all about location, location, location… and this one cannot be beat!
Oceanside is a coastal city in northern San Diego. This seaside oasis has everything you could want when visiting. From top notch recreation, including (but not limited to): water activities such as surfing, boating, paddle boarding, and whale watching. And given the perfect year round weather of sunny blue skies and warmth it also allows for a multitude of land activities, like biking, fishing, sight seeing and more. Oceanside is truly a fantastic San Diego family vacation destination!
When visiting you will want a location that allows you to be right in the middle of it all. Which is why Springhill Suites by Marriott is absolutely perfect!
Location
It’s downtown central location allows for easy walking to all the fun this cute little seaside town has to offer! Positioned down the street from great restaurants with tons of amazing options. Literally a block from the ocean and pier (1 min walk to get to the sand). And you can even stroll over to the fantastic farmer’s market held on Thursday mornings and evenings with it’s food, produce and plethora of fun stands selling all sorts of goods.
Hotel Amenities
The hotel itself has been recently remodeled and is absolutely gorgeous. From the artsy exterior with succulent wall, murals and firepit. To the inside with wonderful art pieces, clean lines and surfaces and offering everything guests could want during their stay at the shop to borrow for a fee at their convenience.
Each room is very family friendly; offering a flat-screen TV and air conditioning, and it is easy to stay connected during your stay as free WiFi is offered to guests. The room sleeps 6 comfortably with the sofa converting to a full bed, a large trundle attached to that and 2 queen sized beds (obviously other layout options are also offered- this is the one we used as it fit us perfectly). They also have a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker and some even have an ocean view off the balcony!
The hotel also features a 24-hour front desk, and rooftop terrace. Plus, guests can enjoy the rooftop pool and spa; and our personal favorite a free hot continental breakfast, which has made this a popular choice among travelers visiting Oceanside. *Only valet parking available for $35 or find nearby street parking, which might be a good option for those not interested in paying for parking. And if you stay during summer take advantage of the roof top pool movies! (The train does run next to the hotel so ask about that when booking or bring a sound machine like we always do).

-On Thursdays be sure to check out the Farmer’s Market from 9am-1pm adjacent to Civic Center Plaza which features dozens of vendors offering a rich variety of fresh local produce, flowers, nursery items and more. But, the Oceanside Farmers Market is so much more than just fruits and vegetables. You’ll enjoy a wide variety of gourmet delights including artisan baked goods, organic honey, salsa and chips, dips and sauces, olives and olive oil, and more. And Thursday evenings check out the Sunset Market from 5pm-9pm where thousands of residents and visitors alike gather to enjoy hot food from around the world, gourmet goodies and desserts, eclectic shopping and live entertainment.
